PEARL LASER

PEARL LASER by Cutera; A New Laser to renew the skins surface.

What is the Pearl procedure?

Pearl Fusion is a combination of the Pearl and Pearl Fractional technologies. Pearl provides full epidermal (skin) renewal, improving pigment texture, pore size and fine lines and wrinkles. Pearl Fractional provides fractional ablative treatments for deep wrinkles and sun damage – plumping and firming the skin to create a more youthful look.
Together, these treatments offer a unique solution for deep and full coverage. The Pearl and Fractionated Pearl can be used independently or as a layered treatment to address each patients needs personally and to also cater to all budgets.

Pearl – a resurfacing laser to remove the damaged layer of skin on the surface, removing pimgmentation and diffuse redness and revealing a fresher more youthful skin

Fractional Pearl – drills mircscopic holes deep into the reticular layer od the dermis – or the level of the skin where the cells are still growing. This is employed to address wrinkles, scars and accerlerate collagen remodelling.

How does the Pearl work?
•    The top layer of the skin (epidermis) is treated with pulses of light. It ablates or resurfaces the epidermal layer of the skin by removing all moisture from this layer and leaving it on the skin as a natural dressing. This allows the skin to heal with a moist layer to removes sun damage and brown spots on the surface of the skin, revealing the fresh dewy skin underneath.

•    The laser simultaneously sends heat to the deeper layers of skin to stimulate collagen. This new collagen reduces
•    The appearance of fine lines on the forehead and around the eyes and mouth.
•    Immediately after treatment, a natural dressing forms on the skin to protect the treated area and prevent a wound.
•    On day 3 or 4, this natural dressing will peel or slough off, revealing new, smooth, fresh skin underneath.

How does Pearl Fractional work?
•     The Pearl Fractional laser uses heat to create tiny holes deep in the skin.
•     The process removes sun damaged tissue and then stimulates growth of healthy, new skin, full of fresh collagen.
•     The skin is plumped up from underneath resulting in a fuller, smoother appearance; at the same time, there is
•    Significant improvement in sun damage as well as other skin imperfections.

How does the Pearl treatment work?

During the procedure, the top layer of skin is treated with pulses of light in a pre-selected pattern. The laser simultaneously sends heat to the deeper layers of skin to provide long-term benefits.

A natural protective dressing forms on the skin, to minimize downtime during the restorative process. On day 3 or 4, this natural dressing will peel or slough off, leaving new, healthy, vibrant skin. In a short time, patients will notice overall skin clarity, smoothness and softness - all from a 15-20 minute treatment with only 3 - 6 days of “social” downtime.

What is “social” downtime?

Downtime is the time spent recovering from a procedure. With “social” downtime, you can continue most normal activities. However, avoid scheduling this treatment for at least 7-10 days prior to any important social events.

Are there any restrictions on my activity after a Pearl treatment?

After treatment, the skin will look and feel mildly sunburned. You will apply ointment on the skin for 3 – 4 days. Since you cannot wear sunscreen during this time, you will need to wear protective clothing and limit sun exposure for a few days after the treatment.

How many treatments are recommended?

Some patients may require 2-3 treatments spaced approximately one month apart to achieve the desired results. Other patients may need only one treatment.

How does Pearl compare to other laser treatments?

Pearl offers the most effective treatment to address fine lines, uneven texture and discoloration without wound care and the lengthy downtime required with certain Erbium and CO2 laser procedures. Compared to today’s fractionated technologies, Pearl offers noticeable results in just one treatment versus 4 – 6 fractionated treatments.

Who is a candidate for a Pearl treatment?

Patients with light to medium skin tones and mild to moderate sun damage are the ideal candidates.
